Vhong sues Cedric, Deniece
TV host-actor Vhong Navarro took another step in clearing his name by suing his alleged attacker, Cedric Lee and Deniece Cornejo, who accused him of trying to rape her.
According to ABS-CBN News, Vhong filed charges of serious physical injuries, illegal detention, grave threats, unlawful arrest and grave coercion and blackmail against Cedric and Deniece’s group.
Nose surgery
Vhong signed his sworn statement at the hospital after undergoing nose surgery on Tuesday, January 28. Vhong’s lawyer Alma Mallonga told "News5Aksyon” that the actor’s camp filed the said complaints also on January 28. Several people from Cedric and Deniece’s camp, including Cedric's sister Bernice, are included in the complaint.
"This has been illegal from the start. This was pre-meditated, this was planned. Vhong was brutalized, detained. The blotter was part of the whole set-up," Atty. Mallonga told "News5Aksyon."
Pieces of evidence
Vhong's lawyer is confident her pieces of evidence are strong.
"Very clearly, yung sinabi ni Vhong na pagpunta niya doon, a short while, may mga bumugbog na sa kanya. Then sila Cedric Lee followed. It was a setup. That is what the CCTV will show."
In an exclusive interview on "Buzz ng Bayan," Vhong insisted that he was not a rapist. The Kapamilya artist alleged that Cedric and several men took turns in beating him and tried to blackmail him. Vhong claimed that he signed the blotter, which contained Deniece’s complaint of attempted rape because Cedric's camp threatened him.
Claims of blackmail
"Kaya po pumasok yung blotter kasi may pangbablackmail na nangyari. Kaya ang nakalagay doon na hindi sila magrereklamo kasi may usapan po. Ginawa lang ang pang-blotter na iyon na just in case na magsumbong ako, meron silang pwedeng panghawakan laban sa akin," Vhong said.
Deniece, on the other hand, insisted that she is the victim. Cedric also denied Vhong's claims, saying that Vhong attempted to rape Deniece. He also denied extorting money from Vhong.
"Ang instinct ko, I grabbed him from the back at hinila ko pababa ng kama. Si Deniece ay tumakbo sa sister ko at inilabas na siya sa condo unit. Naiwan dun sa condo, ako at ‘yung lalaki na di ko pa kilala ay si Vhong," Cedric told ABS-CBN News.
