Vice Ganda would rather not make a big fuss out of his first acting trophy.

In the March 12 edition of “It’s Showtime,” the “Girl Boy Bakla Tomboy” lead star stressed his conscience is clear and that he didn’t buy his Best Actor trophy from the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC), organizer of the annual Star Awards for Movies.

“Nagpapasalamat lang ako. Ayoko na masyado magbigay pa ng statement. Noong nabasa ko nga, nabasa ko na sinabi sa'kin, natawa lang ako tapos tumahimik lang ako, sinabi ko, 'Kung kakausapin ko ang konsensya ko, ano kayang sasabihin ng konsensya ko sa'kin?'”

Vice Ganda said he won’t return the award.

Call of conscience

He added, “Sabi ng konsensya ko sa'kin, kung nandaya ka, ibalik mo ang award. Kung hindi ka nandaya, yakapin mo ang award.”

The 37-year-old TV host was referring to the accusations made by veteran showbiz columnist-publicist Jobert Sucaldito, suggesting that Vice isn’t the rightful owner of the trophy.

A furious Sucaldito exposed an alleged incident of vote-buying among the 38-man voting committee inside the PMPC.

He said he himself commissioned the majority or 22 of the voting members to ensure the victory of Laguna Governor ER Ejercito.

Jeorge ER Estregan (the actor-politician’s screen name) is also nominated as Best Actor for his movie “Shoot-to-kill: Boy Golden.”

The PMPC awarded the trophy to Vice Ganda Sunday night (March 12), prompting Sucaldito to unearth an alleged  lobbyist from the comedian's camp.

The award-giving body has since denied the allegation.

Better luck next time

Speaking to Yahoo Celebrity shortly after the awarding ceremony, Gov. ER said he didn’t feel bad about losing to Vice Ganda.

“We always have our time to shine. In the movie “Manila Kingpin,” I won 4 Best Actor awards, for ‘El Presidente,’ I won three awards. Maybe in the upcoming award-giving bodies, maybe, I hope I could win again,” the actor-politician said.

He also thanked the PMPC for recognizing “Boy Golden,” which won three trophies, including Best Actress (KC Concepcion), Movie Production Designer of the Year, and Movie Musical Scorer of the Year (Carmina Cuya).
