In the latest trailer for “The Intern,” Robert De Niro’s character explains why he chose to come out of retirement and work for a woman half his age.

“In retirement, there’s an ongoing relentless effort in creativity,” his character Ben Whittaker says.

“I tried yoga, learned to cook, bought some plants, took classes in Mandarin. Believe me, I’ve tried everything. I just know there’s a hole in my life and I need to fill it. Soon.”

So, at the age of 70, at the risk of humiliation, De Niro’s character -- a dinosaur in all things technology -- volunteers to intern for a successful young entrepreneur (Hathaway) who has founded her own online fashion site.

Cue the generational divide, misunderstandings, and modern-day drama.

“The Intern” is set for a September 25 release.
