What Grace Lee wants

Grace Lee has added one more cause to her growing list of advocacies. She is now helping the Center for Community Transformation’s (CCT) Waterhope.

“This a little bit different. Yung mga ibang causes ko before involved more of donating money, donating food, donating medicine to make communities better. Ito naman, doesn’t just stop there. It’s a chain reaction kaya natutuwa ako dahil hindi lang ito about providing clean drinking water to communities but making people from those communities self-reliant and self-sufficient,” she shares.

The announcement of Grace’s advocacy coincides with the celebration of World Water Day on March 22, which makes us reconsider how we regard water, a resource that’s easily taken for granted.

Waterhope is a sustainable social enterprise that partners with NGOs like CCT to build water stations that provide clean and affordable water in slum areas. Aside from providing cheaper drinking water, the organization gives jobs to the communities.

Income from the water stations will help develop  communities through pre-schools, health centers and livelihood programs.

General Manager Ziggie Gonzales shares why Grace was chosen to represent the foundation.

“If you have like-minded people, with passion for same things, it will work out. And she was really happy to help us out.”

“We can’t always give food and money. Even in the bible it says that you have to teach them how to fish,” Grace adds.
