An MTV VJ is the epitome of glamor. Look at VJs Yassi (Pressman) or Andre (Paras), among others. Unlike us ordinary folk, they're almost always impeccable. You'll never catch them brushing aside a stray lock of hair from their glowing faces. They have adoring fans at their beck and call and instant name recall.

And all they have to do is talk in front of the camera about what most young people love anyway: music.

You can’t blame the 1,000 young people from all over the country who flocked to the MTV VJ Hunt to chase their dream of hogging the spotlight. But only eight – all of them Manila based and products of exclusive schools – made it to the finals.

The cream of the crop

Mickey Regala, Aryanna Epperson, Kito Romualdez, Carla Lizardo, Erika Westly, Sarah Edwards, Anton Mercado and Chris Schneider made the cut. Now they want to land any of the two slots that will train the spotlight on them as the new MTV VJs come finals night on Friday, October 3, 7:30 p.m. at Le Pavillon, Pasay City.

Let’s get to know each of them some more:

The ladies

Erika, aka "The Sporty Girl" loves football, reading, going out of town and "having fun all the time." She might as well be called Miss Sunshine because the De La Salle University student "always has a smile on my face."

Sarah, aka "The Bubbly Chick" loves singing, trying new food, traveling and animals. She admitted the challenge of memorizing three paragraphs in 10 minutes was hard. But she learned from it and started to relax after that.

Aryanna aka "Pretty Sweetheart" is a student and blogger who loves music, playing the ukulele, guitar and bass. She also loves baking, reading, traveling and cats. It’s her first time to take a shot at hosting. Her mom is stylist, author and lifestyle blogger Jenni Epperson and her dad is the fashion photographer Tom.

Carla aka “The Beauty Queen” was Mutya ng Pilipinas 2010 Miss Intercontinental. She used to be captain of the Ateneo varsity team and plays badminton. She was also a sportscaster and host for PTV4.

Kito aka "The Musician" sings and writes songs. He came from Canada to audition for the VJ Hunt and sees MTV as his stepping stone to hosting. He has a debut album to his name.

Chris aka "The Hunk DJ" is a disc jockey for Monster Radio RX93.1. He loves dancing, singing in the shower, playing football and MMA (mixed martial arts). He waited three years to get a shot at the VJ Hunt because "MTV is known anywhere the world."

Anton aka “The Boy Next Door" just finished a management course from Ateneo and would like to take the non-traditional route to success by trying his luck as a VJ. Basketball is his favorite hobby.

Mickey aka “Mister Charm" is a graduate school student and is into soccer, judo, badminton and golf. He’s a member of the school band and loves reading and agriculture as well.

Globe and TM subscribers can vote the VJ bet of their choice. The finalist with the most votes will go home with P50,000 cash while 20 texters will win smartphones from Globe Prepaid GoSakto.

Now, It’s anybody’s ball game!
