Why ‘A Beautiful Affair’ had to end

Did Bea Alonza’s defunct soap opera “A Beautiful Affair” really end abruptly because of poor ratings?

The show, which also stars John Lloyd Cruz, premiered in late October 2012 and ended in January 2013.  Its three-month run  sparked talks that the show was axed due to its less-than-stellar ratings.

“John Lloyd is doing a movie with Sarah Geronimo so medyo nakaapekto rin yun kasi we’re always hand-to-mouth e. So nagiging problema rin yung schedule niya,” Bea told Yahoo! Philippines OMG! in an interview on Friday, February 9.

She added that perhaps the show just really ran its course.

“I guess, baka hanggang doon lang yung story. You cannot stretch it. It’s better that way,” she explained.

Bea remains unaffected by  talks surrounding the show’s fate. Coming from a successful movie with John Lloyd (Star Cinema’s “The Mistress”) prior to the airing of “A Beautiful Affair,’ the actress said of “A Beautiful Affair”: “Baka ganun lang siguro talaga yun.”

She added, “I’m sure everyone had their own good intentions but maybe it just didn’t measure up or something.”

The Kapamilya star revealed she’s working on a movie with Shaina Magdayao, Angel Locsin, and Enchong Dee, among others.

Is he the one?

Bea isn’t sure what boyfriend Zanjoe Marudo has in store for her this Valentine’s Day, but the actress said she considers it a special occasion.

“I find time for him,” she said on how she balances work with love life. “We make sure na we make time for each other.”

She confessed that keeping a relationship is hard work, especially since hers and Zanjoe’s  busy schedules can interrupt their plans. There was even a time the two didn’t see each other for a month because she was in Europe for work. But instances like that shouldn’t be a problem.

“Kahit 24 hours lang, iuuwi ko talaga para makita siya,” Bea said.

Is Zanjoe the one she wants to spend the rest of her life with?

“Sana because ayoko na rin naman to go out and date someone else,” Bea replied.

She added that Zanjoe has the traits  of a good partner and father.

“Natutuwa ako pag nagkwekwento siya about plans niya in the future, kasama ako sa plans niya. That makes me feel good.”

Bea said she sees herself married “hopefully” in five years, although “hindi ko rin alam na pag dumating ako dun kung ready na ba ako.” And when that happens, she doesn’t mind if her showbiz career takes a backseat.

“If that happens, I’m ready for it. It’s not like I’m clinging to this so much. Life doesn’t end after this. I trust myself that I can do something else after this or I can act and not cling to bida roles.”
