Why Charice’s mom is against Alyssa

This is the lesson Charice’s mom Raquel Pempengco has learned from her experience with her singer-daughter, who has left  the family home several months ago, and is now  living with girlfriend Alyssa Quijano.

In an interview on “Buzz ng Bayan” on Sunday, January 4, Raquel recalled how  she had an argument with the  mother of  Alyssa, then Charice’s fellow contestant in the reality singing show “Little Big Star,” because she (the mom) alllegedly wanted Charice taken out of the ABS-CBN contest.

Despite that, Raquel relates that she invited Alyssa and her mom to a swimming party in the US. The gesture, Raquel goes on,  surprised Charice.

“Bakit mo inimbita sila? Raquel remembers Charice’s words.

“Linalait lait nila sa Charice,” Raquel adds.

Raquel explained that she wanted to let bygones be bygones.  But she still believe that Alyssa is not good for Charice.

‘Suicide try’

Raquel also expressed how hurt she is over her mom Teresita Relucio's statement that the singer tried to commit suicide due to financial problems.

The rift, Raquel said, has come to the point where she asked herself if she’s really her mother’s daughter.

Moving on

Despite everything Raquel understands her daughter.

Raquel said she and Charice’s younger brother Carl have moved on and accepted the fact that the singer is no longer physically present in their home.

“Naka move on na ako,  totally move on.  Wala na sa ‘min si Charice.” Raquel also quashed rumors that she can’t accepte the fact that her daughter is a self-confessed lesbian.

Door still open

Raquel’s door is wide open should Charice decide to visit her or even call her. In fact, Raquel said she replied to her daughter when Charice greeted her and Carl a merry Christmas and a Happy New year via email.

Raquel replied, “You know I love you.”

She  now runs a business she funded with the proceeds from the sale of the Tagaytay house she bought, partly from the fees Charice got from her endorsements.  The singer, Raquel adds, also paid some of the initial installments for the house while she (Raquel) continued fulfilling the remaining financial obligations for the place. But even though she has moved on, Raquel still longs for her daughter.

After all is said and done, Raquel’s love for her daughter is as strong as ever.
