Senator Francis "Chiz" Escudero wants to keep his dear Heart out of politics.
And yes, he's talking about actress Heart Evangelista, whom he is reportedly dating.
"We do not talk about things like that, about the campaign or how and what to do in my campaign," Escudero said in an interview.
The senator, who disclosed separation from his wife Christine last May, had been seen going out in public with the popular actress since July. However, Chiz obviously wants Heart out of his political life, as his reelection bid for the 2013 polls looms.
He clarified that such meetings with the 27-year old actress have nothing to do with getting Heart as an endorser of his campaign.
"For me, I dont want to mix my personal with professional life," Escudero reiterated.
The reelectionist senator issued the statement as he announced his plan to file his certificate of candidacy (CoC) on Tuesday without any gimmick.
Escudero, who will be running for his second term in Senate as an independent candidate, said he does not want his CoC filing a big affair.
“I’ll be by myself... I'm not even bringing my twins because they have school," Escudero said.
Escudero's name has been mentioned to be part of both Liberal Party (LP) and United Nationalist Alliance (UNA)'s senatorial slate.
Refusing to say under which group he would join, Escudero said he leaves the announcement to both parties at the proper time.
But Escudero, who ranked second in the latest Pulse Asia senatorial survey, said he might be doing his campaign sorties alone.
"I might be campaigning alone which is good because you get to move faster than with a group," Escudero said.
"But it depends on the negotiations. It's still going on and if they decide to put me in a small group of senatorial bets, that's okay too," he added.
Aside from Escudero, late action film icon Fernando Poe Jr's daughter Mary Grace Poe-Llamanzares has also being floated to be part of administration and UNA's slate.
