His wife, Sherryl Ann Reyes' sudden death at age 26 gave Universal Motion dancer Wowie de Guzman no time to hug her one last time, “gaya nung nag-de date pa lang kami.”

This, he said, is the most painful thing for him,  now that she has left him and their one-month-old daughter, Alex, behind.

In a phone conversation with  Yahoo! Philippines, Wowie  said his wife could have had a premonition of her death because she was  preparing for their baby’s baptism on her own.

Source of strength

“Naglakad siya mag-isa para para kumausap sa resort owner, sa events organizer. Nung tinanong ko kung bakit (mag-isa lang siya), sabi niya kailangan tapusin nya yon para kay baby.”

But he himself never thought his wife will pass away because he shared her joy when their baby was born.

“High na high kami kasi kapapanganak lang ng wife ko.”

Wowie has no plans of asking for an autopsy anymore because his wife died while he was around and he doesn't suspect any foul play.

Now that he has sole responsibility over his one-month-old daughter, Wowie is drawing strength from his baby girl.

More serious

“Dalawa lang ang choices ko, to be weak or be strong.  I’d rather be strong.  Alam ko namang ginagabayan ako ng wife ko.”

His wife’s passing is also teaching Wowie to be more serious in life.

“Ang plano ko, after ng binyag, doon ako maghahanap ng trabaho. Dati, happy-go- lucky ako. Kung ano lang ang dumating, okay.”

But now, he plans to be more aggressive and approach friends who can help him find a job.

Family support

Wowie considers it a blessing that his wife’s large family and his own relatives are there to help him raise his daughter.  Because of this, he plans to let the baby stay in Lubao, Pampanga, his wife’s  hometown, where he   and Sherryl Ann have been staying  since they got married in July 2013.

Wowie says he plans to have the baby blessed before burying his wife in the afternoon of Saturday, May 3.
