Xian Lim apologizes for 'Banana Nite' actions

Xian takes full responsibility for his actions

Kapamilya actor Xian Lim has apologized over how he treated Kim Chiu’s impersonator when he appeared as guest in the live episode of the comedy show “Banana Nite” on Thursday, January 30.

"I deeply apologize if I caused negative feelings while singing onstage during the Chinese New Years Eve countdown. It was not my intention, and I take full responsibility for my actions," he tweeted.

In the episode,  Xian was performing "So It's You" when Kim’s impersonator, Charmae Viking,  went
onstage and waved at him.  Xian seemed to ignore her and continued singing and walking around the stage.

After the song, Xian and Charmae greeted the crowd.

Turning to the girl, Xian said, "Ang taas ng energy. Kamusta naman?"

Bea Binene issue

After Charmae replied, Xian jokingly told the crowd, "Anong ginagawa dito ni Bea Binene?"

"Banana Nite" mainstay Jayson Gainza then went onstage to interview Xian and Charmae. Although  Jayson referred to Charmae as Kim,   Xian continued to address her as Bea Binene, a teen actress from GMA 7.

Xian told Jayson, "Nag-guest siya from GMA. Tanungin natin kung anong teleserye niya sa GMA, si Bea Binene."

Different views

Netizens went abuzz and gave different views over what happened. Some expressed disappointment.  Xian trended on Twitter that very night.

But many defended Xian, saying that some people might have taken his remarks out of context or that he was just trying to be funny because he was in a comedy show. Others added that addressing the girl as 'Bea Binene' was not offensive because the latter is  a beautiful actress.

In a separate interview at the press conference of "Bride for Rent," Xian admitted  he would like to
improve his communication skills to avoid being misunderstood.
