Xian Lim celebrates birthday with the elderly
Instead of throwing a big party, Star Magic artist Xian Lim opted to celebrate his 22nd birthday with the elderly. Inspired by Diether Ocampo’s mission in helping out kids, Xian organized a party at a home for the aged, the Anawim Lay Missions Foundation in Rizal, last July 19.
Xian said that he is not used to celebrating big parties as he is an only child and usually just celebrates the day with his parents and other relatives.
“I didn’t wanna use my money for big parties. Hindi naman ako ganun eh. I don’t really like yung atensyon na sa akin. I would rather just buy stuff so I can help out, makatulong man lang,” Xian told the press during his birthday celebration at Anawim.
The young actor has always been active in charity work. He is ambassador of ‘Larunugan,’ a celebrity toy drive campaign for kindergarten kids.
“Yung mom ko, she always helps the elderly. I’ve always thought of doing it for the young kids. Pero I’m already helping in Larunungan, the toy drive campaign. Naisip ko na I wanna help out naman the elderly this time,” Xian said.
He added that he has always been inspired to reach out to people in need. Xian also admires Diether for his K.I.D.S. Foundation.
“Actually, na-insipire ako kay Diether. I am hoping na since I’m just starting, I hope I can learn a lot from this. Para next time, it can be bigger. I can work with other charities and make something big out of it, para something to help out lang. Just wanna share my blessings. Hopefully, this can be big,” Xian said.
Xian looks up to Diether as an older brother who dishes out pieces of advice. Aside from charity work, Xian and Diether share a passion for music.
“Before pa nung `Mamarazzi,’ parang kuya siya na nagbibigay ng advice. He was giving me advice about sa banda, mga ganun, kasi nagbabanda din siya,” Xian said.
He relates that he wants have a good career while helping people out the way Diether does.
“Sabi ko gusto ko rin ng ganun, tsaka ng foundation. Tapos when he started, he started small with K.I.D.S. Sabi ko gusto ko rin magkaroon ng ganyang experience in life. I wanna be like that someday,” Xian said.
Xian hopes he can mount bigger events of this kind the next time around.
Career-wise, Xian wants to continue getting projects and recording an album soon.
“That’s one of my biggest wishes din kasi I really love music. I love playing the piano, I love playing different musical instruments. So, sana. That’s one of my biggest wishes,” Xian relates.
He is currently filming ‘Binondo Girl’ with Kim Chiu.
Xian also uploads videos of him singing and playing the piano on Youtube. He also loves composing songs. He already has a piano, but he bought himself another one as birthday gift to himself.
Among Xian’s well-wishers on his birthday were his Star Magic friends Matteo Guidicelli and Maja Salvador. His fans also organized a birthday party for him in a Quezon City restaurant.
