Xian says Kim is 'special'

After being asked of the possibility of taking their on-screen romance to real life, Xian Lim reveals that his “My Binondo Girl” co-star Kim Chiu is very special to him, but does not confirm if he is already courting her.

Xian and Kim, one of today’s most popular love teams, received much love and support from viewers, despite the initial pairing of Kim with other male stars in the series, such as Matteo Guidicelli and Jolo Revilla. After months of working with Kim, Xian revealed that he has gotten closer to his female lead.

Comfortable with Kim

"I guess mas nakilala ko si Kim in a way na comfortable na ako with her. At first, talagang kinakabahan ako kapag nasa harap na ng camera, tapos ka-eksena ko siya.  Pero ngayon, nai-enjoy ko na being with her. Masaya siyang kasama,” Xian said at the thanksgiving party of “My Binondo Girl” at Choi Garden in Greenhills on Thursday, January 12.

Xian was caught off-guard when his co-stars revealed at the press conference that he gives gifts to Kim and even serenaded her during the holiday season. Xian brought a choir to the set, who serenaded Kim with Karen Carpenter’s song “You.”

“Sabi nya (Kim), hindi raw niya nararamdaman ang spirit ng Pasko kasi trabaho nang trabaho. So, naisip ko na kapag nagpadala ako ng choir singing 'Jingle Bells' or singing a love song for her, baka naman kahit papaano maiparamdam ko sa kanya," Xian explained.

Despite his sweet gestures, which some people already consider as courtship, Xian did not confirm nor deny if he is indeed wooing Kim.

“Basta nandito lang ako para kay Kim. Ipinapakita ko na special siya sa akin. Gusto kong iparamdam sa kanya that I care for her. She's really special for me," he said.

Final episode

As “My Binondo Girl” will already be airing its final episode next week, Xian makes the most of his time with Kim. He also hopes that they will continue their friendship and they will still get to see each other even after the TV drama ends.

“Every single day, magkasama kami. Ayaw kong magsayang ng panahon na hindi ko pinaparamdam na special siya dahil it’s a blessing na magkasama kami,” Xian said.

As Xian and Kim are a love team, some people speculate if all of his actions are just for show, to which Xian denied. Xian said that he is not doing it for show and his feelings are genuine.

“Paulit-ulit ko pa syang ipapaliwanag, syempre meron pong mga taong ganun ang sasabihin, naiintindihan ko naman po, pero hindi ako ganoong tao. Hindi ako gagawa ng something na utos lang sa akin,” he explained.

Unexpected

With the successful turnout of “My Binondo Girl,” Xian is happy to be part of the show’s cast and grateful to be given the opportunity, as this is his first leading role.

“Everything was unexpected. Nasurprise nga ako sa takbo ng storya. Thankful and happy lang ako with how everything is going,” Xian said.

“My Binondo Girl” also stars Cherry Pie Picache, Ai-ai delas Alas, Gina Pareno, Richard Yap, Ricardo Cepeda, Laureen Uy, Marina Benepayo, Eda Nolan, David Chua, Gillet Sandico and Simon Ibarra. It will air its final episode on January 20 on ABS-CBN Primetime Bida.
