Yamaha unveils two new Iberian 'Yard Built' special edition bikes

The Yamaha Yard Built XV950 "Playa del Rey"

Japanese constructor Yamaha has just released two new special edition "Yard Built" bikes, those original bikes customized by the best European builders. It's now the turn of the XV950 and the XJR 1300, which have been modified in spectacular fashion.

The first of these wonders is the work of Spanish custom builders Matt Black Custom Designs. The Yard Built XV950 "Playa del Rey" bills itself as a tribute to the Board Tracker models of the 20th century. Like all Yard Built projects, one-of-a-kind pieces were custom built by Matt Black Custom Designs, including the fuel tank, both the electrical and battery side panels and the rear fender.

The bike stands out thanks to its stunning custom foot peg adapters, a front bash guard and a modified wiring loom. The ‘Playa del Rey' build is completed with a selection of custom aftermarket parts including a Rebufini springer front fork and Ohlins rear shocks for a gentler ride.

The concept calls for every XV950 owner to have the possibility of creating their very own "Playa del Rey" using a wide range of pieces available directly from the Matt Black Custom Designs website.

The second half of the equation sees Portuguese custom builders roCks!bikes celebrate 20 years of the XJR line with the Yard Built "CS-06 Dissident." Based on the 2015 model, they are offering a spectacular customization solution, without the need to break down and put the bike back together. This model stands out thanks to their signature ‘monocoque' one-piece tank stretching from just behind the triple clamps all the way back to the end of the tail, two LED lights, upside down YZF-R1 forks modified to fit the XJR1300 steering column, aluminum engine covers with glass windows looking into the heart, an artisan-made leather seat unit that clips into the one-piece monocoque and beautiful 17" tubeless Kineo spoke rims with Pirelli angel GT rubber. XJR owners who wish to customize their machines can purchase pieces for the CS-06 Dissident directly from roCks!bikes.

These two new spectacular "Yard Built" special editions accompany the existing VMax Yard Built "Infrared" by German Jens vom Brauck, with its custom carbon fiber headlight unit integrated into the front forks, custom-made aluminum mudguard, custom carbon wheel covers, custom carbon tank cover and the handmade aluminum subframe crafted from bits of the stock unit and a custom fuel tank placed under the seat, holding the same fuel as the standard tank for an unspoiled riding experience.

Other models of this kind are expected before the end of the year.
