Zsa Zsa: Dolphy is hanging on

Zsa Zsa Padilla admits going through a difficult time, now that long-time partner Dolphy is “not in the pink of health.”

At the thanksgiving press conference of ABS-CBN’s “Budoy” on Tuesday, February 28, Zsa Zsa was emotional as she tearfully thanked co-stars for being her "support group" through her trying moments.

“Nakakamiss talaga (the cast). Tawag ko sa kanila support group kasi kapag pupunta ako sa set eh sa kanila ako magsusumbong ng mga problema ko. While doing 'Budoy,' I’m going through a very difficult chapter in my life,” Zsa Zsa said.

In an interview after the press conference, Zsa Zsa opened up about Dolphy’s health.

“May mga pinagdadaanan ako. Kahit papaano eh you've been hearing rumors di ba? The past few months have been very difficult for my family. Alam naman nila na si Dolphy, aside from being 83, he's not in the pink of health.”

Zsa Zsa always wants to be with the Comedy King, who is staying at  home.

Hanging on

Asked how Dolphy is doing, Zsa Zsa replied, “He's hanging on there. He's in good spirits kasi. He's home and we are doing all the best to take good care of him.”

Zsa Zsa did not want to delve into details about Dolphy’s condition, as she feels that it was not the proper venue for it and she did not want to speak in behalf of his family.

"I don’t think I’m in the position to discuss things right now. Maybe another time, if the whole family is ready. I don't want to be the only one talking about his health,” she said.

Zsa Zsa said she and Dolphy have become closer and she misses him when she is at work.

Twenty three years of being together have only strengthened their love.

“Maganda ang feeling na sa tagal ng pagsasama namin, you feel the need to be with this person. Parang ‘yung nag-uumpisa yung relationship ninyo, ganoon ang feeling ko. Honestly I would say I’m in love with him again,” she said.

Despite this, Zsa Zsa admits some people still think she’s just after Dolphy’s money. This hurts her a lot, since Zsa Zsa works hard for her family.

“Kahit paano affected ako, aaminin ko, na iniisip sa akin ng tao 'yung ganoon. Sa tagal ng pagsasama namin ay nabibigyan pa rin ng malisya at sasabihing ‘pera lang yan.’ So I just wanted to prove that (it’s wrong),”she said.

Zsa Zsa adds that it’s better if things stay as it is to avoid complications. She explains that she and Dolphy are together–through good times and bad–even without marriage.

Complications

“Sa totoo lang dapat it should have been between the two of us, kaya lang malalaki din ang pamilya niya and may complications na mangyayari. So we found it best na huwag na lang (magpakasal). Kumbaga tayo pa din naman eh. Nothing has changed and I’m still here, I’m still supporting you 100% at ganoon din naman siya,” Zsa Zsa said.

Meanwhile, Zsa Zsa is happy at how “Budoy” is inspiring people and making them happy.

“Being innocent, iyon talaga ang charm ni Budoy eh. Ang dami sa atin na dumadaan sa hirap, so kapag nakikita mo ang character na tulad ni Budoy na kahit may mya challenges siya sa buhay, nakukuha niyang ngumiti. Magandang lesson yun eh. That will be forever in my heart.”

“Budoy” stars Gerald Anderson, Janice de Belen, and Tirso Cruz III were also at the press conference.
