Last week, rumors of something big involving the Eraserheads went out all over social media. Ely Buendia has denied any rumors of the band reuniting anytime soon.

And now the cat is out of the bag: the Eraserheads are releasing two new singles.

The songs “Sabado” and “1995” will be issued by Esquire Philippines in CD format available only in its September issue.

The new songs will be available on CD with the magazine's September issue.

Rumors flew

The last time the Eraserheads released material was in 2001, for their album “Carbon Stereoxide.” The band disbanded a year later, returning for reunion concerts in 2008 and 2009 locally, and going on international reunion tours from 2012 onwards.

And then in July, drummer Raimund Marasigan posted an Instagram photo of a recording session with other Heads-mates Buddy Zabala and Marcus Adoro, with Esquire editor-in-chief Erwin Romulo looking on—starting rumors of a possible reunion.

When GMANetwork stoked the fires of reunion rumors last week, Ely Buendia himself shot down any speculations insinuating the idea.

How the songs came to be

With all four Eraserheads members currently successful in their own individual musical projects, one begs to ask: how would the Eraserheads sound like today?

Considering how monumental the task of bringing all four erstwhile bandmates together in the studio was, it was still a surprise the collaboration with Esquire Philippines happened.

“The project started with a few beers and Thai food,” Romulo tells Yahoo Philippines. “All the guys were there with their families and just hanging out and talking. And it just happened.”

For the editor, “the [recording] sessions were exciting and a bit nerve-wracking at times, which is really the case when you're working with highly creative people...One of the best experiences of my life so far.”
