Marian Rivera and Dingdong Dantes have big names known for their generosity as wedding sponsors – like Vic Sotto and Dr. Vicki Belo. But the couple – who will tie the knot on Tuesday, December 30 -- is not keeping the cash gifts to themselves. They specified in a card that came with their wedding invites that they will appreciate getting cash donations to Dingdong’s Yes Pinoy Foundation.

“Nag-umpisa na kami magbigay ng invitations kahapon,” Marian told media who went to her 6th bridal shower (the 7th will be at ‘Eat Bulaga’), care of the Belo Medical Group, at Ariato Events Place on Friday, December 5.

Typhoon preparations

Dingdong was absent because he was in Cebu to help people prepare for the landfall of the powerful Typhoon Ruby.

The gesture made Marian admire her groom-to-be even more.

“Dapat nandito siya para mag-prepare sa kasal namin. Pero nasa Cebu siya para asikasuhin ang mga tao at gabayan sila kung ano ang gagawin para mag-ingat. Ang importante, at the end of the day magkasama kaming dalawa.”

The Belo bride remains calm and cool as her wedding day nears. She plans to go on with her schedule – the Parade of Stars, where she will join her fellow “My Big Bossing” co-actors on the float which will tour select areas in Manila on Tuesday, December 23. Of course, she will also promote Dingdong’s Metro Filmfest entry, “Kubot: Aswang Chronicles,” where Marian plays a cameo role.

Work is waiting for her after the wedding. Her home studio, GMA 7, wants her to resume her show “Marian” and work on a new teleserye. But the excited bride knows where her priorities lie.

Having babies

“Ang teleserye, gusto nilang simulan ko na agad after the honeymoon. Pero basta kapag nabuntis agad ako, alam nilang yun ang magiging priority ko. Gusto ko na kasi mag-baby. Agad-agad. After the bridal shower, baby shower naman!”

Marian said in a previous interview that she doesn’t mind losing that to-die for body for the sake of people she loves – Dingdong and their future children.

“Kung ilang (anak) ang ibibigay ng Panginoon, kakayanin ko. Ang anak ay blessing. Kusang ibibigay yon sa ‘yo.”

Like all brides, Marian has yet to get used to attaching Dantes to her signature when she signs personal documents. But she will most likely retain Rivera in her screen name because that’s what people have gotten used to.

To the curious who wants to know more about the wedding, Marian has promised to call for a general assembly to make announcements as the big day nears. For now, all she can say is that three children’s choirs composed of singers from hers and Dingdong’s alma mater – La Salle and Ateneo, respectively – will join forces on her wedding day.

Something borrowed

Marian will wear something borrowed – her mom’s piece of heirloom jewelry. And the wedding reception will be at the grandiose Mall of Asia Arena.

“Marian embodies the charm and beauty of a Belo bride. And we are proud that Belo Medical Group is her partner to ensure that she will have a beautiful ever-after,” says Dr, Belo.

No wonder the bride-to-be has no wedding jitters at all. She pushes aside an earlier warning that December 30 is not a good day to get married.

“Si Lord na ang bahala. Naniniwala ako sa pananampalataya.”

It shows in Marian’s glowing face and her easy laughter.

“Enjoy ako sa bawat moment,” she beams.
