Miss Earth 2014: Miss Canada Cynthia Loewen

What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?

My environmental advocacy centers around the concept of paralleled international environmental progress and policy as prescribed by the United Nations Environment Program. I believe that in order to achieve maximum result, all countries must commit to putting forth equal effort in the fight against environmental decay. Changes in environmental education, infrastructure, and resource protection must occur in every country. Healthy progress will never be reached if we do not commit to the same goals.

Having founded my own bilingual Green Education program for school-age children, worked as a leader in the Pink Goes Green movement of Delta Zeta International, met with several political figures, and worked with North American organizations such as WWF, I have witnessed the positive change that can come about from environmental dedication. All countries must help each other in program development projects and implementation.

What tip can you share to promote this year's theme, Eco Tourism?

We must view eco-tourism as the greatest form of historical adventure, since it helps us to better appreciate the lands that serve as the foundation of our planet.
