Miss Earth 2014: Miss Scotland Romy McCahill
What is your environmental advocacy and why did you choose this?
To raise awareness about deforestation and protecting remaining forests around the world. Today, only 1% of Scotland's surface has native woodland and, after spending time in Indonesia's tropical rainforests, it's heartbreaking to come home to see and hear. This is why I have chosen deforestation as my environmental advocacy.
What tip can you share to promote this year's theme, Eco Tourism?
The Miss Earth Pageant is an inspiration; showing countries all over the world travelling together to promote environmental and cultural respect. There’s no better way to start getting involved than in your own hometown. Every little helps. We need to unite as one and look after the world we live in so generations to come have the same environmental experiences and opportunities that we have had.
