Star Magic artists compete in annual sports fest

Kapamilya  artists showed their sporty, competitive side in the recently-concluded  annual Star Magic Games held in Lourdes School of Mandaluyong on Sunday, September 29.
 
The celebrities, were divided into  four groups—Black, Blue, Red and Green, and competed in badminton, volleyball, basketball and other fun games.

The Black Team was proclaimed overall champion, followed by the Blue Team, the Red Team and the Green Team. Basketball and volleyball were the two most anticipated games in the sports fest.
 
In the basketball event’s junior division, the Black team, composed of Daniel Padilla, Arron Villaflor, Marco Gumabao and Robi Domingo among others, bagged the championship title. Daniel was named  Most Valuable Player while Marco Gumabao was the Rookie of the Year.
 
The Green team, led by captain ball Xian Lim beat all others in the  basketball event’s senior division. Young JV was the Most Valuable Player, while Miko Raval was named Most Improved Player.

“Masaya na nagbigyan kami ng chance na maglaro. Everyone played well. Hindi lang naman ako. Ang ganda ng laro ng team namin. Ang hirap pala maging captain ball kasi lahat ako ang kinakausap. First time ko na ma-experience,” Xian told reporters.
 
His on screen partner and close friend Kim Chiu cheered loudly for Xian. Kim, on the other hand, found a supporter in Xian, who watched her play volleyball and badminton.

Kim received the Most Games Joined award for participating in two of the games.
 
Kim is part of the Red Team which emerged  overall winner in volleyball. Kristel Moreno was named the Most Valuable Player.

Among the celebrities in the Mythical Six (the list of top players) are Julia Barretto, Jed Montero and Beauty Gonzales.
 
“Masaya at sobrang nakakatuwa na may ganito ang Star Magic kasi nagkakasama kami, enjoy. At buong araw siya na event, hindi lang yung sa Star Magic Ball kami nagkakasama,” Angelica Panganiban said.

Bonding with co-stars

Piolo Pascual, who led the oath of sportsmanship, said  the Star Magic Games is the time when all of them get to bond and just relax.
 
“It’s a tradition so we try to do everything, like the ball, charity events. Of course, we also need to do something lighter with what we usually do kasi sa trabaho, you have to dress up, be glamorous and be your best. Dito sa star Magic Games, it’s about being sporty and also camaraderie. More than winning, it’s about playing and bonding with everyone.” .
