Meet the winners of the Yahoo Celebrity Awards 2014
(UPDATE) Loads of fun, passionate fans, big celebrities, and awesome performances: that’s what Yahoo Celebrity Awards 2014 is all about!
With over 17.5 million votes, combined from online and Kakao votes this year, we’ve seen Pinoy fans’ enthusiasm in supporting their favorite celebrities. Now, it’s time for fans to party!
Fans saw their favorite idols walk the purple carpet and were able to see world-class acts in a star-studded event at the SM Mall of Asia Arena, July 18, Friday. Best part? It was free!
Expect top performances from ABS-CBN’s Maja Salvador to GMA 7’s Elmo Magalona, and awesome band Spongecola, and be in awe with surprise performances from the country’s top music stars.
The first set of awards was given to Andrea Brillantes, who was hailed Celebrity Child Star. then to Male and Female TV Hosts winners Vhong Navarro and Kris Aquino.
Kris Aquino, gorgeous in black, personally thanked her fans for all the votes, some 258,076 online and Kakao Talk votes she garnered.
Meanwhile, the FM Radio Station of the Year is 90.7 Love Radio. The radio station got 196,407 votes, ending Brgy. LS FM’s two-year dominance (2012 and 2013) in the category.

News Program of the Year - “TV Patrol” remains undisputed in the News of the Year category. They got 173,925 votes this year.
Celebrity Family - The Padilla family is the first to win this new category. About 238,905 favored them.
Male Emerging Star - JC De Vera wins this year’s Male Emerging Star category with 163,230 votes. Alden Richards was the first recipient of the award in 2011. Enrique won the title for two consecutive years (2012 and 2013).
Female Emerging Star - Julia Barretto won this year’s Female Emerging Star with 204,708 votes. Ritz Azul, Kim Chiu and Kathryn Bernardo previously held the title.
Male Kontrabida- Jake Cuenca is the first recipient of the Male Kontrabida trophy. He’s a runaway winner with 137,068 votes, more than half of the 268,257 votes tallied.
Female Kontrabida - Jennylyn Mercado is Yahoo Celebrity Awards’ first Female Kontrabida. She won with 399,369 votes. Interestingly, she’s also the first Hottest Actress (equivalent of the current Actress of the Year title) at the Yahoo Awards back in 2011.
Love Team of the Year - The onscreen team-up of Vice Ganda and Karylle emerged Love Team of the Year. Their fans pulled in 391,300 votes to ensure their victory. Kim Chiu and Xian Lim’s love team is currently the most awarded with two wins (2012 and 2013).
Fan Club of the Year - KimXi’s fan base reclaims its title as Fan Club of the Year with 578,015 votes. KimXi first won in 2012. JuliElmo fans won in last year’s category.
Teleserye of the Year - “Ikaw Lamang” got the most number of votes—704,038—in the Teleserye of the Year category. “Ina Kapatid Anak” won last year when the category was first introduced. Interestingly, both series star Kim Chiu.
News Program of the Year - “TV Patrol” remains undisputed in the News of the Year category. They got 173,925 votes this year.
Movie of the Year - Star Cinema's “Bride for Rent” won Movie of the Year with 630,061 votes. The rom-com blockbuster stars Kim Chiu and Xian Lim. It was the Angel Locsin and John Lloyd Cruz-starrer “Unofficially Yours” that won in 2012, while Sarah Geronimo and John Lloyd Cruz’s “It Takes a Man and a Woman” won last year.
Male Hothlete - Fresh from their successful “sibling rivalry” in the UAAP court last year, brothers Jeron and Jeric Teng won Male Hothlete of the Year. The Filipino-Chinese brothers were voted 98,918 times. The said category is a new entry this year.
Female Hothlete - Gretchen Ho is the first recipient of Female Hothlete of the Year trophy. The ex-Ateneo lady spiker got 116,021 votes.
Male Performer - “The Voice” coach Bamboo was hailed Male Performer of the Year with 343,009 votes. Christian Bautista remains the most-awarded in the category (2011 and 2012). Elmo Magalona won last year.
Female Performer - With 536,921 votes, Sarah Geronimo reclaims the title after a very close fight with Julie Anne San Jose. The 2012 Female Performer lost to Julie Anne last year. International Pinay singer Charice was the first one to win in 2011.
Band of the Year - Parokya ni Edgar’s 143,105 votes did the trick again this year. Chito Miranda’s band is a three-time winner in the said category (2011, 2012 and 2014).
Emerging Band - Yolanda Moon is the first winner in the Emerging Band category. They were voted 67,183 times.
Song of the Year - Julie Anne’s San Jose’s “Bakit Ngayon” was hailed Song of the Year with 280,784 votes.
FM Radio Station of the Year - 90.7 Love Radio is Yahoo Celebrity Awards’ FM Radio Station of the Year. Love Radio’s 196,407 votes ended Brgy. LS FM’s two-year dominance (2012 and 2013) in the category.
Male DJ - Papa Jack remains undisputed in the Male DJ category—winning for 3 consecutive years now. He got 183,822 votes this year.
Female DJ - MOR 101.9’s DJ Chacha ended Nicole Hyala’s two-year dominance with 314,809 votes.
