If you thought the music scene would quiet down with the end of summer, then get a load of this list. Along with the school opening and the rains of June come a whole bunch of gigs. They just moved indoors. Check out who’s up and coming in the metro’s live music scene.

And check in from time to time as we update this list as needed.


JUNE 6, Friday

TAYLOR SWIFT LIVE IN MANILA

Pop superstar and one of the prettiest faces in music these days bless her adoring fans with her endearing and ear-friendly chart-busting country crossover. She’s on a whirlwind world tour behind her latest release “Red” which counts among the slickest mega-pop albums of the past two years.

Yahoo Celebrity Awards goes bigger this year with the addition of a touring air-conditioned purple bus on which fans can vote and check out the new Yahoo mobile apps. Lined up for the PUP leg of the tour are Rocksteddy, Absolut Play and Emerging Bands of the Year nominees Brisom, Yolanda Moon and Chocolate Grass.

2014 INDIEPENDENCE MUSICFEST

Four consecutive evenings of four indie band showcases nightly from the likes of Chocolate Grass, Steady Machine, Autotelic, Cheats, Squid 9, Imago and Peso movement.

URBAN MUSIC AWARDS 2014

Wave 89.1 gives props to local hip-hop and R&B artists by holding the Urban Music Awards. Some of the awards include Best New Artist, Best Male R&B Artist/Best Female R&B Artist, Club DJ of the Year, Best Rap Artist, and many more. Set to perform are Gloc-9, Blaze N Kane, Jay-R, Q-York, and many more, along with a special production number by US hip-hop pioneers Bone Thugs-n-Harmony.
