OPM legends, young artists perform at Pinoy Music Festival Year 1

Pinoy music legend Jim Paredes believes the OPM (original Pilipino music) could take the world stage by storm pretty soon--if only the industry gets its act together. And one way the industry has responded is by staging the Pinoy Music Festival, one of the biggest gatherings of OPM artists to date in its mabitious plan to revive, well, itself.

The event, held on Friday, September 5, was organized by Pinoy Music Council, a newly-formed organization tasked to unify the industry. Sitting as members are representatives from the Organisasyon ng Pilipinong Mang-aawit, Filipino Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (Filscap), Asosasyon ng Musikong Pilipino and PhilPop Foundation.

Last Friday's free concert was the first of what is envisioned to be an annual festival. It saw music icons and new artists sharing one stage to make OPM cool again. Check out who among your favorite artists performed at the Ayala Triangle Gardens in Makati City.
